UPDATE:
Today we had fantastic silent discussions about "The Birthday Party." If you were absent, you will need to complete the alternate assignment to make up the missing points.
We then peer reviewed thesis statements, but unfortunately we didn't quite finish. Here are the steps, starting from the beginning for absent people, and continuing for all of us:
- Go to peergrade.io/join and join our class. The code is SQBDH3.
- Then use the link above and type your thesis statement into the template. You will need to download the template before it will let you type in it. Color code your thesis statement.
- Go back to peergrade and upload your thesis statement.
- Get to work providing feedback for your peers. COMPLETE PEER FEEDBACK BY 3 PM ON FRIDAY.
- Only a couple people finished providing feedback in class. If you didn't finish, I need you to log back in to peergrade and attempt to finish. If it won't let you, please tell me so I know. If it will let you, great. If no one contacts me with issues, I'm going to assume there were no tech issues and you all successfully finished providing feedback (and of course I'll be able to see this on my end).
- After providing feedback, read the feedback you received. Check back after 3 pm on Friday so you see all the feedback you were given. Remember to take the feedback with an open mind and a grain of salt. Consider all ideas, but remember not all suggestions are good ones. Use your own critical thinking to help you decide if you should take all the suggestions.
- Revise your thesis statement based on the feedback you received.
- Review this document with tips about how to format your essay. We will discuss this further on Monday.
- Review the rubric. (link updated 10/3 at 8:30 pm)
- Start drafting your essay. We will discuss the essay assignment further on Monday, but if you want to get a jump on it, I suggest you start working on it. It will be due next week.
- Join our class on turnitin.com. I will send the code and password on Remind. If you haven't joined our class on Remind, ask a friend from class to share this information with you.
